When thinking about how I could learn about the safe seat, I realized that the way I was seeing the safe seat used was like a time-out chair. I decided to look for articles on time-out in early childhood education. I also looked at strategies for problem solving that teachers could share with their students to help reduce use of the safe seat or give students a tool for reflection when at the safe seat. Lastly, I researched Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) because it is used by Columbia Public Schools.
