I interviewed four third grade students, three boys and one girl, to gain their insights on the safe seat.
Have you ever been to the safe seat?
Yes, I’ve been to the safe seat like 3 times.
Why?
I don’t know.
How do you feel when you go to the safe seat?
Happy because I’m not doing my work.
Have you ever been to the safe seat?
Yes.
Why?
I don’t remember.
How do you feel when you go to the safe seat?
Student C: feel better because I’m away from everyone.
Student T: Yeah, me too.
How long do you normally sit at the safe seat?
You can get out whenever you want because you went to calm down but if you get sent there you have to stay for 4-5 minutes.
Have you ever been to the safe seat?
I don’t think so.
Why do we have a safe seat?
So that if people need to calm down they can go there and think.
How do you feel when other people go?
I don’t know. I don’t really notice.
If you went, how would you feel?
Probably worried because it would be my first time.
